As an external brief, as a course we were given the option to participate in designing objects to go in the garden of house meant for families of hospitalised children to live in. Tom, Zoe and I took on the project as a group.
We were giving initial ideas in a power point to look over, since they already had a starting point, which consists of three tree houses at different levels. The plans say that they are to be made of reclaimed, painted wood and perspex. Some of the themes are visibility, colour and nature, so we wanted to reflect that in the designs of other objects.
One of the main things we wanted was something simple to play in/around, that follows the same visual them as the tree houses. We settled on a spiral shaped wall, wide enough for wheelchair users, made from wooden slats and the occasional perspex strip to add in the visibility.
We also designed a picnic table and a bench, along with some stools, all of which match.
